Eighteenth Annual Meeting of the Society

The Society for Text and Discourse will hold its 18th Annual Meeting in the FedEx Institute of Technology at the University of Memphis July 12-15, 2008.

The conference which promises to become a great event features:

- Keynote speakers Nick Chater and Susan Brennan
- Over 90 accepted presentations and posters on dialogue, embodiment, instruction and cognition, text comprehension, and sentence processing!

Keynote speakers include Susan Brennan, Nick Chater and Walter Kintsch

Susan Brennan is Associate Professor in the Departments of Psychology and Computer Science at S.U.N.Y. at Stony Brook. She is internationally known for her work on interactive spoken dialogue.

Nick Chater is Professor of Cognitive and Decision Sciences, Department of Psychology, University College London. He is the well-known for his work on language acquisition and language evolution.

Walter Kintsch is Professor Emeritus of Psychology at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He is kmown for his work on text and discourse comprehension and latent semantic analysis.

 

The ST&D Conference will be preceded by the ST&D Workshop (July 11-12, 2008), the 11th Conference (July 8-11, 2008) of The International Society for the Empirical Study of Literature and Media (IGEL) and the IGEL Summer Institute (July 5-8, 2008)
