FireWire port - What is it?

If you have heard of FireWire port but don’t know what exactly it is then here is the exact and clear explanation of FireWire port. So to start with lets define the FireWire port, the FireWire port is a type of serial port just as the USB port in the PC or the laptop. This FireWire port uses the FireWire technology for transferring any sort of data between two electronic devices.
Apple Inc. saw the very first use of FireWire port in the camcorders in the year 1995. But now the FireWire technology has grown leaps and bounds and is used extensively in many of the modern electronic devices. Unlike the other ports that we have seen or used in our devices the FireWire port can be used with or can be interacted with multiple devices. This is because of the fact that the FireWire port is a multiple platform serial bus. This is the reason why the FireWire port is much better than all the devices used worldwide and is the best suited for connecting the computer to any a scanner or printer.
The reason why FireWire is used so widely is the fact that using FireWire will neither cause you any data loss and nor any distortion in the data quality. The FireWire is mainly used in Power Macs, Macbooks etc. The latest devices incorporating FireWire port can give transfer rate of up to 800Mbps. So this is what the FireWire port actually is and this is what they are used for.
